LA GRANDE — Paintings by Jason Hogge are now on display at Cook Memorial Library, 2006 Fourth St.

Hogge is a sculptor and painter working out of his studio and shop in Pendleton. He draws inspiration from a close relationship with his family, the natural landscape, diverse culture, community, spirituality, and whatever curiosities or challenges he happens to be working through at the current moment, according to a press release.

Hogge lets the needs of the art project direct the medium he chooses to work in. Often working large, he primarily wields oil and acrylic paints, wood, steel, concrete, stone and tile.

Lately, he has been painting, assembling and giving structure to the imaginary things that keep him up at night — “numbers, dreams and spirals are escaping his thoughts and falling from his fingers.”

According to the release, his current show, “THR333,” explores the idea of an ethereal third helix in our DNA, and the allure of threes in nature, culture, spirituality and relationships.

Hogge also created the permanent art installation outside the library’s Fourth Street entrance.

His artwork will remain on display at Cook Memorial Library through July 10. Stop by the library to see the work in person, or visit the library’s website, CookMemorialLibrary.org, and click on “Programs/Services.”
