JOHN DAY, PRAIRIE CITY — Blue Mountain Community College in Grant County, along with Grant County Senior Programs, are offering a museum series of tours to explore the county’s history.
These tours are open to those age 55 and older, and accompanying minors.
Tours will be held on Wednesday, April 30, and Thursday, May 8. Both run from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Lunch and transportation on the People Mover will be provided. Attendance is free, but pre-registration is required.
The group will tour Kam Wah Chung, Dewitt Museum and Depot Park, the Grant County Ranch and Rodeo Museum and the Grant County Historical Museum.
Each day includes visits to two museums.

Grant County Senior Programs received a Rural Older Adult Mini grant (ROAM) through the Association of Oregon Community Mental Health Programs to support the museum tours.
“We’ve been trying to do programs for older adults to reduce isolation and loneliness and strengthen intergenerational connections,” said Misty Palmer, program manager for Grant County Senior Programs.
Last year, activities included a geology tour and writing a life story.
