Tropical Bash supports Milton-Freewater Senior Center

MILTON-FREEWATER — The Milton-Freewater Senior Center is having its biggest fundraiser of the year on Saturday, April 26, from 3:30-6:30 p.m. at 311 N. Main St.

Their family friendly Tropical Bash includes a meal, entertainment, games and prizes.  All ages are welcome.

The menu includes a pulled pork sandwich with pineapple relish, macaroni salad, rice with housemade teriyaki sauce, steamed vegetables and coconut poke cake.

Meal tickets (dine-in or takeout) are available in advance for $17 for ages 12 and older. Tickets at the door are $20, or $10 for those younger than 12.

Fundraisers support the senior center and its programs.

Programs

The Milton-Freewater Senior Center provides opportunities for wellness, fulfillment and socialization for individuals ages 55-plus in Milton-Freewater and the surrounding community.

The center offers lunch every Friday at noon for a suggested donation of $5 per meal. Upcoming menus are salmon patties for April 25 and a chicken sandwich on May 2.

The Meals on Wheels program is delivered every Tuesday and provides 27 deliveries to home-bound seniors in the area providing nutritious food, socialization and safety checks. Their program is currently at capacity, but the center is always welcoming more volunteers.

A Chair Exercise class is offered at 11 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The Computer Club meets the first Thursday of each month at 11:30 a.m. in the center’s library where a specialist will answer questions about a phone, laptop, iPad and Android.  Call the Senior Center if you are interested in a class about a particular technology subject.
